Step 1: When going through Whitman's notebook, I noticed his concern with the divide that was growing (and still continues to grow) in the United States. With this concern on his mind, he developed a "third religion" embracing “that which is not conscience, but against it,”. I believe this gives insight to Whitman's inner thoughts that he wants humanity to come together and create a third party so the divide in politics to be so great. This concept of saving America from ruin is found in one of this letters to the Congress where he writes, "“We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth,”. Here you can see that Whitman believes that the success of the United States is to be the last hope for the world because it is the leader of the free world. I would describe the "American Dream" as the backbone to America's culture. This phrase embodies the hard work ethic the majority of Americans value. "The American Dream" means that it is up to you and how hard you work, that determines your success in life. Success can mean many things of course depending on the individual. The term success could mean quantitatively how much money you are making or in contrast, qualitatively, how you are doing what makes you happy and fulfilled. To go further, I believe that in America, your life is full of choices. Choices which determine your future. Planning: IOC RECORDING LINK Grading: A: 5- I think I showed a good understanding of the text when explaining the major themes and the context of the passage however I could have incorporated more well chosen references to the text B: 6- I think I did a good job when explaining the effect on the reader when I discussed how the motif of fate created confusion, but I could have been more detailed. C: 3- I think generally, the IOC was coherent but I don't think that it was entirely effective. D: 3- My language was adequate but not formal and I should have used more literary terms when analyzing the text. I also did not reach the time mark because my language was limited.

She invites others to take part in the revolution to bring equality to the women working in the field of film. In the Ted Talk, she discussed how not only are women given minor and simple roles in films but are actively discouraged from producing films just because of their gender. Jones brings another issue to light being how all of this affects our view of ourselves and the world around us. By watching films where the main character is a male and is also produced by a male, we are limited to one viewpoint. Jones gets her point across that women are not given the same opportunity as men to express their ideas through the art of film first, by using personal experience to intrigue her audience. Step 1) Enfield describes Mr. Hyde's appearance to Mr. Utterson by saying that, "He is not easy to describe. There is something displeasing, something down-right detestable. I never saw a man I so disliked, and yet I scarce know why. He must be deformed somewhere; he gives a strong feeling of deformity, although I couldn't specify the point. From this description, the feeling of confusion arises for if a man has a deformity in the face, it would be easily described by another. This advertisement was published in 2017 by the company Lynx which sold "Lynx Dry Full Control Aerosol Anti-Perspirant Deodorant" which is now discontinued; most likely as a result from activist groups whom protested the sexist ad. This ad demonstrates the deadly sin, "Lust". Lynx is a UK masculine grooming brand which is known for  degrading women through the use of stereotypes in their advertisements. In the advertisement above, it shows a woman cooking in her lingerie. This is degrading to women because the ad is dehumanizing women by making them feel like objects rather than human beings.When examining the advertisement closely, it has the phrase "can she make you lose control?" making the inference that by using Lynx products, you will gain back the control in the relationship. My name, Harris Green, ties me to my cultural and religious background as a Jew. It is Jewish tradition to name your children after a family member who has passed to retain their memory. I was named after my great grandfather "Harry" and although I barely knew him, I enjoy being named after him. My parents always describe him as a hard working man who viewed being Jewish as very important. He would have Shabbat dinners every Friday night with his family. Carrying his memory with me through my name affects how I want to live my life. It has made me value my religion and the importance of family as well as the importance of having a strong work ethic.  In "The Name is Mine," Anna Quindlen tells of her choice to keep her maiden name, rather than taking her husband's name when they married. From the Archive - Real Cowboys, Minneapolis, MN Lake Street USA (1997 - 2000)  When first examining this photograph, you see an older man, wearing south western influenced clothes, standing in a parking lot in a somewhat run down area.  By looking deeper into the photograph and the text in which it came from, we discover that he is from El Paso, and has had two cancer operations which resulted in the loss of his vocal chords. He made his living by operating heavy machinery but his passion was always music and training horses. Singing and horses still remains a big part of his life despite his dealings with cancer.  Margaret Atwood used the concept of "othering" in The Handmaid's Tale, when she portrayed the Commander as a man who uses his power to obtain sexual favors from Offred.
